Sisterhood of the Traveling Boots

September 5th, 2012

Do you remember the fairy tale of the Twelve Dancing Princesses? That was one of my favorites when I was a little girl. I loved to imagine I was one of those free-spirited sisters, giggling as we put on our dancing shoes and slipped off to the secret ball to have our fun.

Last night was just like that, except we were eight Arkansas women bloggers, and our shoes were beautiful leather boots given to us by Country Outfitters for review. Also, our footwear did not wear out, and we have each been granted the magical power of giving away an additional pair.

Whitney, who took the author photo for my book, had the idea of a few us getting together and having some pictures made. I can’t wait to see and share the results of her work, because even more beautiful than the boots is this sisterhood, and all the amazing people and places I would never, ever have known if blogging didn’t bring me to them.

In the meantime, here are a few outtakes from the shoot. Contest details are below. Good luck!

Contest details:

Country Outfitter is giving Planting Dandelions readers a chance to win a $150 gift certificate. That will get you a very nice pair of boots (women’s, men’s and children’s styles available). Here’s how to enter, in two steps:

  1. Click here and submit your email address to Country Outfitter (you may receive occasional emails from them).
  2. Leave a comment here on the blog letting me know you submitted your email to Country Outfitter. A random winner will be selected in one week (Wednesday, September 12, 2012) after 9pm CST.

Canadians and readers in the non-continental U.S: I am waiting on the word from the sponsor about shipping costs and eligibility, and will let you know. Meantime, nothing ventured, nothing gained–go ahead and toss your cowboy hat in the ring.

Disclosure: CountryOutfitter.com, a retailer of Justin boots gave me these Women’s Bone Deertanned Cow Boots to review. (Here’s my review: they are my new favorite thing. Expect to see me wearing them a lot.)
