Scenes from a crafty weekend

September 10th, 2012

It was a homey kind of weekend for me and the Littlest Who. The big boys had dances and sleepovers. Patrick had football. We went to my  favorite yarn store, and picked out some wool for a very special Christmas surprise for someone (which Christmas is part of the surprise, as this pattern is two skeins over my one-skein rule). He got to operate the ball-winder, which sort of made up for having to wait so long for me to make up my mind which yarn to buy.

Craftiness must be catching. Back home, he got the melty beads out, and made Pokemon ornaments using patterns we found online. His brothers got in on the act yesterday, and my iron got the most use it will probably get all year. The finished product really is cute. I told them they could have a gamer theme for their St. Nicholas tree this year.

Melty bead Charizard.

I know, fall hasn’t even officially begun, and I’m thinking Christmas already. Last year, my friend Kath told me about the 101 Days to Christmas email planner. It starts up again this week, if you can believe it. I don’t think I even mailed out cards last year, but I’m going to sign up again, if for no other reason than it’s fun to imagine what I might be doing if I did have my act together.

Are you the crafty sort? What are you working on? What are you wanting to start?

Photos taken with HTC Droid Incredible, provided by Verizon Wireless Ambassador program, through which I have been provided with a wireless device and three months of service in exchange for my honest opinions about the product. Opinion: it takes nice photos, but getting them on my Macbook has been a giant pain. Any droid/Mac users out there with a solution? And don’t tell me to read the product manual. I’m an Apple user. We don’t know how to read product manuals.
