Mother’s Day in the Middle

May 12th, 2013

I’ve been on the receiving end of Mother’s Day for fourteen years now (fifteen if you count getting pregnant on Mother’s Day 1998, which instantly puts the phrase “receiving end” into That’s What She Said territory–sorry about that). Fourteen years of garden bouquets, embellished handprints, penciled love letters, coffee brewed by other people, and breakfast calories that don’t get counted.

Mother’s Day with little kids was pure sweetness, but Mother’s Day in the middle years is wonderful. I think they’ve got this thing down.
